Dynamic Web PHP/MySQL publishing - Help!
I was very excited to find this software. I have a Plex server in my home and need a cloud based option for seeing what is on my server as I don't want to make my Plex server available outside my local network. Filmotech would work perfect for me. I was using Colectorz but that was getting expensive. Your software works flawlessly on my PC but I am having issues trying to publish my collection to the web. I have built websites as a hobby and understand the basics, I have worked with FTP and I am just now scratching the surface on MySQL. What I struggle with is I cannot find detailed instructions on how to publish my data to a web site. The forums barely cover it and the FAQ is no help unless I am missing something. The https://www.filmotech.info/faq_en/doku.php/faq/first_steps/wizard is great as it shows step by step instructions (with pictures) on how to install the Filmotech software. I know there are a number of people out there that would appreciate the same type of detail in regards to publishing to the web (using pictures). I have done everything I can think of but cannot get the software to go past a certain point (see attached picture).
I keep getting: "Error in JSON file received" and cannot get any further.
I am using https://infinityfree.net/ as a web host.
I am thinking of trying another host to see if that fixes my connection issues.
So far I have only put one movie in my database for testing purposes.
Any help (hopefully detailed) would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.

Do you transfer file in binary mode with your FTP client ?
Does this host add advertisement in the returned code (which will alter the JSON file sent by the API) ?
I am not sure how to check the settings in my FTP client.
I do know the files make it up on my web site (see picture).
I was thinking that possibly the hosting company might be blocking something behind the scenes (as I have run into that before).

Both the web hosts I have tried are free hosting sites.
They might be adding advertisements in the return code, I am not sure how to check.
I am using free web hosting as I am retired and on a limited income.
The last time I worked with building web sites was 5 years ago.
No PHP or MySQL experience at all, sorry.
I guess you could consider me a want to be "Newbie" at this.
By the way, thanks for your very quick response as I just hit the post button less than an hour ago.
You can also try to access this address: http://yoururl/rest/api.php?rquest=get_config, you should get a JSON response like this:
Just email me at cliffloy@gmail.com and I will forward the info to you.
I can also send you in an email (or post in this forum) screen shots of all my Filmotech settings.
Thankyou!
Not as far as I can tell, my web address starts with http

I am thinking my problem might be with my ISP.
I am checking.
I tried to post in Firefox and it went right through.
Not sure if that helps.
I am trying to use a FREE web host and they DO come with restrictions.
Apparently Byet web hosting is blocking my MySQL from updating as they only allow that on a Premium Plan (see picture below).
I will try and find another website that does allow me to update MySQL from my PC.
Most of the free MySQL hosting sites require a premium plan to be able to have Remote MySQL.
I did find one site though: https://www.heliohost.org/ does not require a premium plan.
Their cPanel is a little cumbersome to use and I had to Google where to find the correct settings but I did manage to get it up and running.
I was really glad to see this when there weren't any errors.
Yahoo!!!!!!
Here is a link to my site! http://cbloy.heliohost.us/index.php
However, Filmotech doesn't use a remote access to MySQL, because it's the server PHP script which access the MySQL database locally (on the server), so this should have worked. On some web host, the remote address is just "localhost".
I am pretty sure that since I was trying to use a "Free webhost" (and I tried a few) most have somehow locked down the MySQL function so it can't be accessed remotely at all.
If you don't mind paying a monthly fee for web hosting I would probably go the paid route.
Since I am on a budget being retired that was not an option for me.
For anyone wanting to use Filmotech I would highly recommend it.
It is fun, easy to use and it is free, and if you like it a donation is highly recommended.
FYI:
(For those who are on a budget like me)
Along with:
https://www.heliohost.org/
(This host runs on donations)
Here is another resource to check out would be:
https://www.free-webhosts.com/
(This post is for informational purposes for those who want to try and publish their Filmotech data to a website)
The free webhost:
https://www.heliohost.org/
Works great.
I have had no issues so far.
I have 362 movies up (and I am adding more).
They do have a space limit on their host but I am not even at 6% of my disc space.
I would recommend using smaller movie posters as that is what takes up most of your disk space.
TMBD uses larger posters where IMBD uses smaller ones.
TMBD always finds the movie that you are searching for.
IMBD struggles sometimes.
For an FTP Client I would not use "FileZilla" as it has adware embedded in it.
I am using WinSCP Available here:

Have a great day!
